When Pets Suddenly Start Acting Cold – What’s Going On?
#1
Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone else has ever dealt with their pet suddenly becoming distant—like they’re ignoring you on purpose?

I’ve had my rabbit for almost two years now. She’s normally super curious, always running up when I enter the room, hopping into my lap, and nudging me for treats. But over the last few days, she’s been staying in her corner, barely reacting to anything—even the crinkling sound of her favorite snack bag doesn’t get a response.

At first, I thought I had done something to upset her. Then I started wondering if animals just go through “moods” like people do. But still, it’s tough not knowing whether to be patient or concerned. Her eating and bathroom habits seem okay, but emotionally? She feels checked out.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavioral shift? Could it be stress from a noise or scent I’m not noticing? I haven’t changed her food or bedding, but maybe there’s something subtle I’m overlooking.

I’m trying to give her space, but I’m also gently offering attention so she knows I’m here. It’s such a fine balance—don’t want to smother her, but I also don’t want her to feel alone if she’s struggling with something.

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from other small pet owners. When do you decide it’s a behavioral phase versus a reason to talk to a vet?
Appreciate any insights—feeling a bit in the dark here!
