Anyone else here using custom Mylar bags for storage? - davidmark198 - 03-09-2025

I started messing around with them after a friend recommended them for keeping coffee beans fresh. I usually just used jars, but I noticed the beans would lose that strong smell pretty quickly. With the Mylar bags, the flavor actually lasts way longer, which kinda surprised me. I also tried packing some trail mix and dried herbs, and they held up really well without going stale.

One thing I learned the hard way is not to overstuff them. The first batch I ordered was too thin and ripped when I tried sealing them. The thicker ones with zippers are a lot more reliable. I’ve even started writing the dates on the outside with a marker so I don’t forget how long something’s been in there. I found a random guide that showed different sealing methods, too, which was pretty helpful.

I’m curious, though do you guys use custom Mylar bags just for food, or have you found other creative uses for them?
